I have always wanted a Pembroke Corgi. and when the day came it was not an easy task to find one.I approached many breeders but there were no puppies for sale I eventually found a 6 month old puppy bitch in Huddersfield whose owners wanted to rehome her. It was love at first sight and she was mine!! She was called Millie (Saphina Dance of the Hours) not only was she a very pretty puppy but she was by the Crufts Best of breed Champion Twinan Custom Made ,how lucky was that? Added to that she came from the successful kennel of Carys Bannister OBE ! I gave her plenty of ring craft training and then entered her for some championship dog shows and she qualified for Crufts on two occasions and was shown there in 2009 .When she was old enough I decided it would be nice to breed a litter of puppies from her and chose a lovely dog called Highworth Northern Lights over Pendrell (Rio,an own brother to Champion Highworth Cressida, best of breed at Crufts) who we met at Crufts. When the time came she spent a couple of days with Alan and Elaine Barlow Rio's owners and 63 days later produced 6 lovely puppies naturally, 4 bitches and 2 dogs..Decisions decisions who to keep?In the end I kept back 2 bitches and found lovely homes for the other 4 pups.. My two puppies are called Tessie (Creslow Dollydaydreamer) and Bozka (Creslow Handpainted) ,both have attended ring craft classes and both were class winners at their first show and both qualified for Crufts 2011 in the process..Who would have thought what joy finding a puppy on a hill farm in north Yorkshire would bring and the kindness and encouragement fellow Corgi breeders have given? It would be hard to imagine life without these lovely dogs with immense characters .
